Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comments form, plus the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.

An anonymized string (hash) from your email may be sent to Gravatar to check if you use the service. See Gravatar’s privacy policy: automattic.com/privacy. After comment approval, your profile image (if any) is publicly visible with your comment.

Media

If you upload images, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from images on the site.

Cookies

• Comment cookies: If you leave a comment, you may opt in to save your name, email, and website in cookies for one year.
• Temporary cookie: When visiting the login page, we set a temporary cookie (no personal data) to check cookie support; it’s removed when you close the browser.
• Login & preferences: Login cookies last two days; screen options cookies last one year. “Remember Me” keeps you logged in for two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
• Editor cookie: When you edit or publish an article, a cookie storing the post ID is saved for one day.
